In an interview with Farah Khan, titled – Tere Mere Beech Mein – Vivek spilled the beans on the entire controversy.
Talking about calling the press conference, Vivek said he realised that he had made the mistake as soon as he sat in front of the media people for the press conference. He realised that he should have handled it man-to-man and not this way. He also stressed on the fact that his close friend, Sohail Khan, had indeed asked him to wait so he could intervene and solve the matter. But Vivek acted instinctively and was outcasted overnight after the episode.
On being asked by Farah, whether the person for whom Vivek all of this ever thanked him or appreciated him for this, Vivek said, "Nahi hua." He added that he was in fact told later that he shouldn't have done this and was labelled 'immature'. Oberoi also said that Tupperware, which makes plastic wares, the amount of plastic they have, much more than that we have in Bollywood. He said, "sab hain yahan pe, plastic smile, plastic heart, sab."
Saw this video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9geEbZIAJM . Vivek looked really good. Makes me wonder if he would have been a big star had he not rejected good movies like hum tum and not had that weird incident with selmon boi.
While many actors have spoken up and put forward their views on issues like nepotism, actor Vivek Oberoi maintains that he is not too surprised.
Bollywood has seen an unrest like no other in the last few months. From insider-outsider debates on the industry to a drug nexus case being widely discussed, the Hindi film industry seems to have been attacked from all sides. While scores of actors have spoken up and put forward their views on issues like nepotism, actor Vivek Oberoi maintains that he is not too surprised.
Revealing that he has experienced it firsthand, Vivek opened up on lobbying in Bollywood. "There always has been lobby, people abusing their power. I have been a victim of that myself. You know there is always been a lobby that has a massive influence and power and they have used it to enrich and benefit themselves and rather than create an ecosystem and a democratic place where new talent just blossoms," he told Hindustan Times.
Referring to his own experiences, Vivek said, "I have experienced it. I have seen the time from being offered all these choices from people saying to ‘Sorry man I can’t work with you anymore because XYZ asked us not to or that we have this pressure and that pressure. I have seen it firsthand how people abuse their power." He added that he tried to fight it but never received any support for it.
On Thursday, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi's Mumbai residence was raided by the Central Crime Branch as the cops are looking for his brother in law Aditya Alva, who is wanted in the Sandalwood drug case.
Aditya Alva, son of late minister Jeevaraj Alva is absconding since the last three weeks.
"Aditya Alva is absconding. Vivek Oberoi is his relative and we got some information that Alva is there. So we wanted to check. So a court warrant was obtained and Crime Branch team has gone to his house in Mumbai," said Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner, Bengaluru police.
Has it been released anywhere on a streaming platform?
You all can probably guess how bored I am because of the lockdown.
The couple has now called off their engagement and ended their love story with a messy separation. Though they tried to work out their problems, the rift between them only widened until both families intervened and the relationship was called off. Close family and friends insist it was the most sensible thing to do, as their temperaments just did not suit each other. Besides, some friends close to the couple say that Vivek's dad Suresh Oberoi never did get along with the overbearing Gurpreet, who is said to have taken over the mantle of advisor to Vivek, from him. While Gurpreet is back to modelling and is said to be partying every night with friends to get over her depression, Vivek is maintaining a dignified silence over the matter. When contacted on the sets of Sameer Karnik's movie, Vivek said, "I don't want to talk about it anymore. It is very personal. Right now, my only concern is my work. That is what keeps me going."
