I’m about to do the literacy test this week and I’m honestly stressed out. For anyone who has done the test, was it hard? Also, do you guys have any tips for the essay part?
I read in some places that you have to end up taking a literacy course in grade 12 but there was no exact answer to this. Was also wondering if there is anything I should look out for and study for as well.
Located in southern Ontario if that matters. I just got an email today about signing up for scoring the OSSLT (which I've done before). I was in the middle of the application when I saw that part of my profile was out of date. I updated it, and now the link is gone and it says there is nothing available. I know it is first come/first serve but did it seriously fill up entirely in the 30 seconds it took me to update my profile? Or am I glitched? I emailed EQAO to see, but the applications close tomorrow at 12 so I'm worried they won't get back in time. Thanks!!
Grade 11, going to into grade 12 here. We didn't get to do the literacy test last year because of Covid-19, so it was scheduled for this year. However, because of the lockdown this, we didn't get to do it this time either. Do we get to skip it completely, or will we just end up getting a single chance in grade 12 with the risk of not graduating upon failure?
Hi, I'm a grade 12 student who was suppose to take the OSSLT in grade 10 but due to covid it got cancelled. To this day I have not received or heard of any news and passing the OSSLT is mandatory to graduate. Does anyone have information on this?
Any people in Ontario, my OSSLT got cancelled in grade 10 and now grade 11, will we have to write it in grade 12 then? My parents are curious and I need to show them written proof.
We moved to Canada last year and OSSLT got cancelled. This year I don't want to risk it. I'm grade 12 this year. If I take OSSLT will it affect my average?
EDIT: My guidance just posted saying that OSSLT got cancelled this year too lmao. Thanks everyone anyway!
EDIT 2: I couldn't find any resource confirming OSSLT's cancellation, so it might not be true.
So our district has been going on strike one day a week for a while now because of funding or something and apparently one of the biggest English tests ever might be cancelled, and you need to pass it to graduate. Am I the only one who thinks this is stupid? They say they’re doing the strikes to help the kids but now you may be delaying my graduation. If I don’t pass next year I’ll have to take a whole course made for studying for that stupid test, and if you get anything lower than a 75% you fail. This is bullshit, I need this year and they’re taking the opportunity away from me. Fuck you.
I’m currently a grade 11 I didn’t pass the OSSLT last year I scored 295. I was going to have a chance to re take the test this year but because of covid it’s canceled does anyone have any information on this??
What do I do? Do I have to take the OSSLT English course next year?
I just wanted to know if y’all took the osslt and if so what y’all got I passed with a 355
If so, fuck you Basira
It just doesn't make sense..
what questions did y’all get
also I only had 2 body paragraphs for my essay lol oops
Canadians rise up
This is going to be very hard, but can you guys remember what was on YOUR booklet? My friends and I are completely confused as what we are talking about. As of the moment I am writing this, I’m the only one in the group call who got a question about that guy in the wheelchair doing backflips.
Anyone know when are we gonna get the results for it ?
Had no clue the newspaper thing would be on the first book and completely underestimaded my time, still filled in everything but with 5 seconds left on the clock lol. The second book in my opinion was much easier than the first.
Fuck that question on the second booklet that was two pages long
For people outside Ontario, this is a literacy test you must pass to graduate (simplified explanation)
EDIT: I won't be responding because I'll be doing the test.
EDIT: Morning session was cancelled due to technical difficulties (test is online) lol
The OSSLT (Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test) is a requirement for graduating any high school in Ontario. I don't know what it's comparable to in the US, but oh well! Good luck to whoever's taking it!
It's a literacy test that everyone in Ontario, Canada is required to take in 10th grade to graduate, not unlike the SAT in the us. It's a pretty easy test, but I left about 4 questions blank (3 short paragraph answers and one multiple choice set), because I was just slow and didn't fucking finish on time.
I know that I'm allowed to take the test as many times as I want before I graduate and the # of times won't even show up on my transcript, but I'm kind of paranoid about not passing. It's just that I expect so much better for myself, and the vast majority of people get over the 300/400 pass mark. only one person in gr.11 had to retake it.
I'm not getting the marks back until june. gonna be a long wait.
Oh, wait, nevermind
