I chose the cello because I was drawn to almost from my soul. I'm even in love with it's name. And I love its range. That said, I wouldn't be sad if I had ended up a violinist, instead. It's also a beautiful instrument. Presumably, you also prefer the cello. Why?
Read recently a professional cellist who was touring with the concerto said her teacher recommended not tackling it until she was in her 30s and it could take 2-3 years of dedicated work for it to be anywhere close to performance level. Started working on it over the last six months, oh boy, this is going to be a journey.
I want to try to play a graceful and romantic piece but also sth challenging for my upcoming competition but I really do not know too many choices (not that I dont want to choose sth technical, it's just that I think I can play slow pieces much better than fast and technical pieces) Please do help to suggest some short pieces (not exceeding 5 min as it is in the competition rules)!
*edit: -I passed my ABRSM grade 8 exam last year with distinction, just for reference of where im currently at with my cello -Unfortunately, I can't choose a piece from the ABRSM exams (last year and this year's syllabus, but older syllabus are allowed), and it's a bit tricky now with all these restrictions
