Seems that there’s two camps when I research the topic. One being that every 0331 head will crack eventually, second camp is of the opinion that as long as you maintain the cooling system properly and don’t let it overheat it will be fine.
My ‘01 has 90k miles, bought it with 84k a year ago and immediately replaced the water pump, hoses and thermostat. I’ve flushed the system twice since then and use 50/50 green stuff. If I’m not losing any coolant, that I can see, would it be worth replacing the head with a Clearwater replacement as a preventative item?
If/when the current head does crack, is there a chance for collateral damage or can that be avoided if fixed immediately after noticing the issue?
Ayo Gents, I'm currently going through ITB. I'm graduating soon and the Fleet is glaring at me from a closing distance. I heard all kinds of hazing stories about ITB before I got here, but for the most part things have been pretty chill. The Instructors seem competent and they teach us, And apart from some instances from our time in the 03XX portion, will only be dicks if you give them good reason. But now reading some truly fucked shit about the fleet and it's hazing has got me a bit nervous, which is weird because I've always expected it as a rite of passage even before enlisting. But I guess now that it's closer than ever they are starting to get to me a bit more. I guess I'd just like any advice that would make the process as painless as possible. I've heard our instructors warn us that often times as 0331s, our seniors will "Use knowledge as a weapon." Does that mean I should be grinding out my knowledge handouts over leave? Any info is appreciated. Thank you.
RL friends don't like opening thier gifts and it's annoying me, add me and I'll send gifts and raid invites as I get them.
